Ketamine Infusion Therapy

When you arrive, you will be seated in a comfortable recliner and connected to monitors. An IV will be placed, and the infusion will start. Some patients experience a “floating” sensation or mild visual effects. Some patients report the sensations as being pleasant, for others it may cause some discomfort. We have medications to alleviate any discomfort.

Yes, ketamine is safe when administered by a qualified healthcare provider. It was approved by the FDA in 1970 and has a large safety profile. The World Health Organization (WHO) lists Ketamine as an essential medication for anesthesia and pain management. At Lakeview Wellness Clinic, ketamine infusions are administered by a board-certified anesthesia provider, and you will be monitored throughout your treatment.

For mood disorders, you will need 6 infusions initially, followed by periodic booster infusions every 1-2 months. The number of infusions for chronic pain varies; please call us for more information.

 Ketamine infusions for mood disorders take 40 minutes. Plan to be in the clinic for about 1.5 hours. Infusions for chronic pain can take 2 to 4 hours, so plan to be in the clinic for 3 to 5 hours.

No, we are not setup to bill insurance directly. We can provide you with receipts and/or a superbill which you can present to your insurance company. We do not know if your insurance company will give you any reimbursement. Contact your insurance company for your coverage information.

Ketamine is an anesthetic drug that produces intense analgesia and amnesia by inhibiting NMDA receptors. It also affects opioid, noradrenergic, cholinergic, nicotinic, and muscarinic receptors.

Do not eat for 6 hours before your appointment; you can drink clear liquids up to 2 hours before. Wear comfortable clothing. You will be monitored throughout the infusion and should arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home after the treatment.

No referral is needed, but we require documentation of your mood disorder or chronic pain diagnosis from your health care provider.

IV Infusion Therapy

Most people can safely receive IV infusion therapy. People with congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or end-stage renal disease may not be suitable candidates.

IV infusion therapy is not covered by insurance.

Yes, IV infusion therapy is safe. Our infusions are designed to improve your health and wellness.

Upon arrival, you will be seated in a comfortable recliner. We will review your medical history, take your vital signs, and start the infusion, which takes 30-60 minutes. After the infusion, we will take another set of vital signs to ensure you feel well before you leave.
